Blog # 2: Two possible memoir topics

I am down between two choices with my memoir topic. The two topics are: my cruise vacation this summer and a girl named Claire.
The cruise was a trade off with a graduation party. I didn't care that I wasn't going to have a graduation party. I didn't care about all the presents from friends. I think anyone would choose a cruise over a graduation party. It was a carnival cruise line that stopped in Progresso and Cozumel, Mexico. This was my first cruise ever and it was just with my parents. I had the best time. We went horseback riding on the beach, snorkeling, banana boating and my favorite, shopping. Those were just the excursions that we did while we docked in Mexico. I think the best part was the casino, when I won money, of course. I know the most important thing on that cruise was that I got to spend my graduation present with my parents. Most of the people my age on the cruise had friends with them and they would just hang out with their friends the whole time. This cruise really helped me bond with my parents and made me realize how much I just take them for granted. My parents on the cruise were not just people who gave me money, but they were people who I wanted to hang out with and enjoy their company.
The next topic, Claire, would be about a girl I hung out with in a club called Falcon Friends. Falcon Friends is a club where you spend time with students who have learning disorders or other types of disorders that don't allow them to be in normal classes. I was paired up with Claire the first day I joined the club. She is a vivid memory in my mind today. She had tiny glasses that would peek out from her blond, wispy hair that was always covered her face. She always had on a tiny, purple Dora book bag that was pulled to the tightest. She would always have the biggest smile when I came to visit her. But when she was alone, she seemed to always have a look of confusion or disappointment in herself. She looked lost and hopeless. I had never seen her talk to anyone in the hallways like normal high school students would do. Falcon Friends really helped me put myself in her shoes. I think it made me a better person and made me realize that my obstacles are much smaller because I was granted with social skills and some confidence. Spending time with Claire really showed me that I am not just a bystander, but someone who will go out of their way to make someone happy.
These are my ideas coming together for my possible memoir topic. Writing this blog helped me add details to the topic I think I am going to choose for my memoir.
